Got an asthma puffer? Are you using a spacer with it? Many people think spacers are optional or just for kids, but they are a vital first aid tool. Using an inhaler alone can cause most of the medication to get lost in the mouth, not the lungs. A spacer traps the medication, allowing the person to get up to 4 TIMES more of it where it's needed most. Knowing how to properly manage asthma is a pivotal skill we cover in our HLTAID011 (Provide First Aid) and HLTAID012 (Childcare First Aid) courses.
