I’m deeply concerned that the Commonwealth Government is pressuring states and territories to water down their bail laws at a time when youth crime and violent offending are on the rise. Queensland, the NT, WA and even Victoria are strengthening their laws because communities are demanding protection, yet Canberra wants to go the other way. More offences are being committed while on bail, and many of them are violent. Australians want safer streets, not weaker laws. I’m calling on Michelle Rowla
