HOUSTON – Azeez Al-Shaair was determined to try to contain his emotions Friday afternoon, but that was never going to work. This was far too big and far too significant for Al-Shaair to not speak from the heart.

The Houston Texans announced the new three-year extension of Pro Bowl linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair on Friday afternoon. According to reports, the deal will go through 2029 and pay him an annual salary of $18 million. Al-Shaair, 29, was entering the final year of his three-year, $33 million extension signed back in 2024.
