Many Verizon customers are experiencing a major outage on Wednesday, disrupting calling and cellular services across the U.S.

Nearly 200,000 users reported their service being disrupted on Wednesday, according to Downdetector, with reports flooding in around noon. A majority of the issues were reported to be related to mobile phone connectivity, at 61%, followed by users having no signal, at 35%, and mobile internet disruptions, at 4%.
The outage is affecting the eastern United States. Downdetector, which tracks outages, reported a spike nationwide in outages after noon ET Wednesday, with tens of thousands of reports from across the country. Locations with reported outages include New York City, Chicago, Houston, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Miami, Charlotte and Dallas.
Verizon encountered serious technical issues Wednesday that knocked out service for thousands of customers across the country. It took the U.S.’s biggest wireless carrier more than 10 hours to fully restore service.
