Some of the highest snowfall totals on the map include 18.0″ in James City, 15.2″ in Newport, 14.0″ in Kinston, and 12.0″ in Greenville. Several other locations measured around the 10–11″ range, including Washington, Columbia, and Swan Quarter.

Here are some of the preliminary snow reports coming in from across eastern NC. Most of the area saw 8-12″ of snow, with many locations exceeding 12″. The strong winds have created snow drifts in excess of 2 feet in drift-prone areas.

The weather service says Norfolk, Portsmouth, Suffolk and most of Chesapeake and Virginia Beach is likely to see 3-4 inches of snow. Higher amounts are possible.
At least 2-4 inches of snow is expected across the area, with locally higher totals of 8-12 inches where heaviest band of snow develops.
A Nor’easter is expected to hammer parts of Hampton Roads and northeastern North Carolina with heavy snow this weekend, but the National Weather Service has adjusted some expected snow totals downward near the northern edge of the storm.
