Things changed dramatically last week, however, when the company confirmed reports that the new Siri will be powered by Google’s Gemini models. While OpenAI’s ChatGPT models took a dramatic early lead in generative AI, it’s now widely considered that Google’s Gemini is at least their equal and in many respects their superior.
The iPhone maker is giving Siri a chatty makeover.
So, while Siri will technically be powered by the same models as Gemini, it won’t be “Powered by Gemini” in the most literal sense. It’s more accurate to think of Siri as Gemini’s sibling or cousin, sharing the same ancestry but having its own unique personalities and capabilities.
A new report has detailed several new features that Apple’s Siri could use thanks to Google Gemini’s integration.
