A male surfer is recovering from a chest wound after being bitten by a shark on Australia’s Mid North Coast on Tuesday, Jan. 20, according to the New South Wales Police Force.
A 12-year-old mauled by a shark in Australia’s Sydney Harbour has been identified as Nico Antic, with a family friend saying the boy had suffered “devastating injuries”. Antic was attacked on Sunday afternoon while swimming with friends near Shark Beach in Vaucluse, an affluent harbourside suburb in Sydney’s east.
Despite a recent fatal attack in Monterey County, incidents involving sharks and ocean swimmers remain rare.
A man in his 20s was critically injured in a shark attack at Sydney's North Steyne Beach on Monday, Jan. 19, the New South Wales Police said in a statement.
