Thousands of protesters marched through South Portland and enveloped the blocks around the Immigration and Customs Enforcement building Saturday, sparking now-familiar confrontations with federal agents.

Labor unions from across the Portland area marched to the Portland ICE facility to protest the ongoing immigration enforcement actions by the federal government.

Real estate was scarce in Monument Square as the demonstrators condemned Trump administration policies, most notably the recent surge of federal immigration enforcement operations in Minnesota and Maine.

Federal officers have failed to provide sufficient warnings as required before using force and have used force disproportionate to the danger faced, said Gil Kerlikowske.
