Not every NFL team that’s looking for a new head coach will hit a home run in this cycle. They’re all hoping for a Ben Johnson, Mike Vrabel or Liam Coen and the immediate turnaround those coaches brought to their franchises.

Finally, former Jets coach Robert Saleh is back in a head role with the Titans after just one season as the defensive coordinator with the 49ers. Brian Callahan and Mike McCoy both got a crack at coaching the Titans in 2025 and after the team’s 3-14 season they have a combined career record of 33-65.
After following head coach Jim Harbaugh from Michigan to Los Angeles in 2024, Minter has quickly become a rising star in the coaching ranks. He presided over a Chargers defense that led the NFL in scoring defense last season at 17.7 points allowed per game and ranked fifth in the league this season with just 285.2 total yards allowed per game.
