U.S. negotiators have told Ukraine during peace talks in Berlin that it must agree to withdraw forces from the eastern Donetsk region under any deal to end the nearly four-year-old war with Russia, an official familiar with the matter said.
In the territory of Donetsk region controlled by Ukraine, 33 Ukrposhta offices are currently operating – 27 stationary and six mobile – whereas before Russia’s full-scale invasion a total of 304 offices were functioning there.
There are no official statistics surrounding suicide among Ukrainian soldiers, but they are thought to count in the hundreds.
Talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. envoys on Tuesday yielded no public breakthrough on a potential Ukraine peace deal, with Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov suggesting unsolved "territorial problems" were the main stumbling block.
Ukraine is not ready to withdraw from the Donetsk region, while the aggressor state Russia is seeking the complete seizure of Donbas. Against this backdrop, the United States is looking for a compromise solution.
